Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-01-15

This Privacy Policy describes how MagicAjax.NET (the "Site", available at https://magicajax.net) collects, uses, and shares information about visitors. We aim to keep this policy short, plain-language, and accurate.

1. Information we collect

We try to collect as little as possible. The Site is a static publication; the bulk of what's served is just HTML and images.

  • Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider records standard request metadata (IP address, user agent, requested URL, referrer, timestamp) for operational and security reasons.
  • Analytics. If we use a privacy-respecting analytics tool (such as Plausible or a similar cookieless analytics service), it records aggregated, anonymous traffic data. No individual users are tracked across sites.
  • Form submissions. If you contact us via email or use a form on the Site (for example, the Become Our Author form), we receive whatever information you choose to share — typically your name, email address, and message body.

2. How we use information

  • To respond to inquiries you send us.
  • To operate the Site and protect it against abuse, spam, and automated attacks.
  • To understand which articles are read, in aggregate, so we can publish more of what readers find useful.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data to build advertising profiles.

3. Cookies and similar technologies

We aim to keep cookie usage minimal. Where cookies are used (for example, to remember a UI preference) they are first-party and not used for cross-site tracking. We do not embed third-party advertising trackers.

4. Third-party services

  • Hosting and CDN. The Site is served from a static hosting provider and may pass through a CDN to reach you faster. These providers see standard request metadata as part of delivering the page.
  • Embedded content. Articles may embed external resources (e.g., images on a vendor's CDN, code repositories). These third parties have their own privacy policies; we don't control them.
  • Email. When you email us, your message is processed by our email provider.

5. Data retention

Email correspondence is retained for as long as it remains useful for editorial purposes (typically a few years). Server logs are kept for short operational windows defined by our hosting provider. Analytics data is aggregated and contains no personal identifiers.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example, the EEA, UK, or California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export the personal data we hold about you. To exercise these rights, email privacy @ magicajax.net from the address on file.

7. Children's privacy

The Site is intended for working software developers and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy occasionally. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be highlighted on the Site for a reasonable period.

9. Contact
